Final Fantasy Resonance Demo Is Now Available With Progress Transfer

Square Enix has released a free demo of Final Fantasy Resonance, allowing players to experience the first chapter of the upcoming RPG ahead of its full launch. The demo also lets players carry their progress over to the complete version of the game.

Final Fantasy Resonance returns to turn-based combat, following Rain, a knight who becomes involved in a journey to protect the Crystals.

The game combines classic elements of the franchise with an HD-2D visual style, blending pixel-art characters with three-dimensional environments and modern visual effects.

During battles, players can use different abilities and strategic resources to overcome their enemies. The system also incorporates familiar elements from the Final Fantasy series, while allowing characters and references from different eras of the franchise to appear in the new adventure.

The demo gained even more attention following the game’s appearance during the September State of Play. Square Enix confirmed that Sephiroth will appear in the adventure and also presented new gameplay footage.

With the demo now available, players can experience the beginning of the story before deciding whether to purchase the full game.

Final Fantasy Resonance Release Date

Final Fantasy Resonance is scheduled to launch on October 22, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.

With its free demo already available, the new Square Enix RPG is beginning to stand out among the major releases of the second half of 2026, particularly for fans looking for a new Final Fantasy experience built around traditional turn-based combat.
