Blizzard has confirmed during BlizzCon 2026 that an animated series based on Diablo is currently in development for Netflix. The project will bring the franchise’s dark fantasy universe to audiences beyond the video games.

Only a few details about the production have been revealed so far. Blizzard has not announced a release date, episode count, full creative team, or specific details about the story that will be adapted. For now, the confirmation itself remains the main announcement from the company.

The series arrives as video game adaptations continue to expand across film and television. Blizzard also indicated that projects involving Overwatch and Warcraft could receive updates in the future, although Diablo is currently the only television adaptation among the three franchises to be officially confirmed.

The Diablo universe offers a vast amount of lore and a wide range of characters that could be explored through an animated series. The franchise follows various conflicts surrounding the world of Sanctuary and powerful supernatural forces, giving the production plenty of possibilities for a story that can stand on its own while remaining connected to the games.

For now, fans will have to wait for more information from Blizzard and Netflix to learn how the series will approach the franchise, who will be involved in its production, and when the first episodes will be released.
