Avengers: Endgame Encore: All 4 New Scenes Explained and How They Set Up Doomsday
SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for Avengers: Endgame Encore and discusses details connected to Avengers: Doomsday.
Marvel Studios has brought Avengers: Endgame back to theaters with Avengers: Endgame Encore, a special re-release that adds four new scenes designed to connect the events of the Infinity Saga with the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.
The additional footage doesn’t simply revisit familiar moments. Instead, it introduces Loki, Doctor Doom, Bruce Banner and the TVA into new scenes that expand the consequences of Endgame’s ending and establish a much larger threat facing the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The four scenes also raise major questions about Steve Rogers’ decision to remain in the past, the fate of the multiverse and the mysterious connection between Tony Stark and Doctor Doom.
1. Loki Visits Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter
The first new scene takes place immediately after Steve Rogers returns to the past to live with Peggy Carter.
In the original Avengers: Endgame, audiences see Steve and Peggy finally together, dancing in their home before the movie cuts away. Endgame Encore extends that moment.
While Steve and Peggy are dancing, someone knocks on the door.
Peggy answers and finds Loki standing outside. However, this isn’t the Loki who died during the events leading into Avengers: Infinity War. Instead, the scene appears to feature the version of Loki who became connected to the TVA and the wider structure of the multiverse.
Loki tells Peggy that he doesn’t need her help, but that he believes he can help both her and Steve. Steve then reveals himself, immediately recognizing Loki.
The scene ends without explaining exactly why Loki has come to see them.
What does Loki’s appearance mean?
The biggest implication is that Steve’s decision to remain in the past may have created consequences that extend far beyond his personal life.
Steve was originally supposed to return the Infinity Stones to their proper points in time before returning to his own era. Instead, he chose to remain with Peggy.
That decision raises the possibility that Steve and Peggy’s life created or affected another branch of reality.
If Loki is now involved, the situation may be connected to the larger multiversal crisis at the center of Avengers: Doomsday.
The scene therefore transforms what appeared to be a simple happy ending for Steve into another potential piece of the multiverse puzzle.
2. Doctor Doom Comes for Bruce Banner
The second new scene focuses on Bruce Banner.
Banner is being held inside a highly secure underground facility after the events surrounding Spider-Man: Brand New Day. He is working on a gamma-based solution intended to help control his transformations into the Hulk.
While Banner is recording himself, the lights begin to flicker.
A voice then speaks to him.
It belongs to Victor von Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr.
Banner asks who he is, and Doom identifies himself. He then explains why he has arrived:
He has come to collect Banner.
The scene cuts as Banner begins to transform into the Hulk. When the footage returns, glowing green markings can be seen on the floor.
The encounter is deliberately left unresolved.
Why does Doctor Doom want Hulk?
This is one of the biggest unanswered questions created by the new footage.
Doctor Doom clearly considers Bruce Banner or the Hulk important enough to personally retrieve him.
That could mean Doom is assembling powerful individuals for his own purposes, or that Banner possesses knowledge or abilities that will become important during the multiversal crisis.
The scene also appears to connect Endgame Encore with the events surrounding Spider-Man: Brand New Day, suggesting that the MCU’s current stories are becoming increasingly interconnected as Doomsday approaches.
3. The TVA Watches the Multiverse Collapse
The third scene takes viewers back to the Time Variance Authority.
Mobius, Ouroboros and Casey are monitoring the multiverse when they suddenly detect an incursion.
Two universes are on a collision course.
The situation quickly becomes much worse.
More incursions begin appearing across the TVA’s monitors. What initially looks like a single incident rapidly grows into hundreds and then thousands of separate events.
The TVA realizes that the problem isn’t isolated to one universe.
The multiverse itself is collapsing.
Why is this important for Avengers: Doomsday?
This may be the clearest explanation yet of the central threat facing the heroes in Avengers: Doomsday.
The TVA previously existed to monitor and manage the timelines and realities of the multiverse. Yet even its agents appear unable to predict or stop what is happening.
The scale of the crisis is therefore enormous.
The new scene also references Universe-10005, a reality associated with the X-Men films, placing that universe directly within the larger multiversal conflict.
Instead of dealing with one villain threatening one Earth, the characters of Doomsday may be facing the destruction of multiple realities at once.
4. Doctor Doom Forges His Mask
The final new scene appears during the credits.
In the original Avengers: Endgame, audiences heard the sound of metal being forged during the credits. The sound was a callback to Tony Stark building his first Iron Man armor in the original Iron Man.
Endgame Encore adds new images to that familiar sound.
Instead of Tony Stark, viewers see Victor von Doom forging his own mask.
The sequence deliberately mirrors Tony’s early journey as Iron Man.
Doctor Doom is shown creating his armor while the familiar sound of metal being hammered plays in the background.
Why does this connect Doom to Tony Stark?
Robert Downey Jr. is playing both Tony Stark and Victor von Doom, making the visual parallel especially significant.
The new footage doesn’t explicitly reveal why the two characters share the same face, but the decision to show Doom forging his mask in a sequence associated with Tony Stark strongly suggests that the similarity will matter.
Whether Avengers: Doomsday ultimately explains a deeper connection between the two characters remains unknown.
For now, Marvel appears to be deliberately drawing attention to the connection.
How the Four Scenes Set Up Avengers: Doomsday
Taken together, the four scenes establish several major elements for Avengers: Doomsday.
Steve Rogers’ decision to remain with Peggy may have consequences for the multiverse. Loki appears to be aware of the situation and may be attempting to intervene.
Meanwhile, Doctor Doom is already moving pieces into position, including Bruce Banner and potentially the Hulk.
At the TVA, the multiverse is experiencing an unprecedented number of incursions, suggesting that the crisis is already underway.
Finally, Doom’s mask-forging sequence reinforces the mysterious connection between Victor von Doom and Tony Stark.
Rather than functioning as simple bonus footage, the new scenes turn Avengers: Endgame Encore into a bridge between the previous era of the MCU and the upcoming multiversal conflict.
With Avengers: Doomsday scheduled for December 18, these four scenes give audiences several new mysteries to follow while making one thing clear: the consequences of the MCU’s previous stories are far from over.
