Ahsoka Tano is returning for another major chapter in the Star Wars universe.

Ahsoka Season 2 is officially coming to Disney+, continuing the story of the former Jedi as she faces new challenges alongside Sabine Wren and other familiar characters. The second season is also bringing back Grand Admiral Thrawn, whose return could have major consequences for the galaxy.

Lucasfilm has already revealed a new teaser and confirmed the premiere date, giving fans a clearer idea of what to expect from the next chapter.

When Does Ahsoka Season 2 Premiere?

Ahsoka Season 2 premieres on January 20, 2027, exclusively on Disney+.

The announcement was made during D23 2026, where creator Dave Filoni joined Rosario Dawson, Hayden Christensen and Eman Esfandi to present the new teaser and discuss the upcoming season.

The new season will continue the story established in the first season while expanding the scale of the conflict surrounding Thrawn and the New Republic.

What Is Ahsoka Season 2 About?

The second season continues Ahsoka Tano’s journey after the events of the first season.

Ahsoka and her apprentice Sabine Wren are dealing with the consequences of their journey beyond the known galaxy. At the same time, their allies Hera Syndulla, Ezra Bridger, Zeb and Chopper face the growing threat posed by Grand Admiral Thrawn and his allies.

The story will therefore follow multiple characters and locations as the conflict develops.

Grand Admiral Thrawn Returns

One of the biggest elements of the new season is the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Thrawn is one of the most important villains connected to the modern Star Wars story, and his return creates a major threat for the New Republic.

The official Season 2 description states that Thrawn and his allies seek to push the New Republic toward war.

His presence also connects Ahsoka to the larger storyline involving the New Republic era.

Anakin Skywalker Returns

Hayden Christensen is also returning as Anakin Skywalker.

The new teaser features Anakin interacting with Ahsoka and revisiting her history as his former Padawan. According to StarWars.com, Anakin challenges Ahsoka to confront an important question about her identity and what it means for her to be a Jedi.

The relationship between Anakin and Ahsoka remains one of the most important emotional connections in the series.

The new season therefore has the opportunity to explore more of their history while continuing Ahsoka’s journey in the present.

Rosario Dawson Returns as Ahsoka

Rosario Dawson returns as Ahsoka Tano.

The character remains at the center of the series as she continues to deal with the consequences of her decisions and the growing threat facing the galaxy.

Dawson has also described the upcoming season as a larger story, with bigger battles and higher stakes surrounding Ahsoka and her allies.

Sabine Wren and Ezra Bridger

Two important characters from the first season are also returning.

Natasha Liu Bordizzo reprises her role as Sabine Wren, while Eman Esfandi returns as Ezra Bridger.

Ezra’s return is particularly significant because the first season focused heavily on his disappearance and eventual return to the known galaxy.

The new season will continue exploring his relationship with Hera, Sabine and the rest of the characters introduced throughout the Star Wars animated universe.

Who Is in the Ahsoka Season 2 Cast?

The confirmed returning cast includes:

• Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano
• Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren
• Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla
• Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn
• Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger
• Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati
• Rory McCann
• Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker

The returning cast brings together characters from both live-action and animated Star Wars stories.

Dave Filoni Returns

Dave Filoni continues to play a central creative role in the series.

Filoni created Ahsoka and serves as a writer and executive producer for Season 2. Jon Favreau and Carrie Beck are also executive producers.

Filoni’s involvement is particularly important because Ahsoka has deep connections to characters and storylines originally introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.

What Does the New Teaser Reveal?

The Season 2 teaser provides glimpses of Ahsoka, Anakin, Sabine, Ezra and Grand Admiral Thrawn.

One of its most notable elements is the interaction between Anakin and Ahsoka, suggesting that their connection will once again play an important role in the story.

The teaser also hints at larger conflicts and battles as Thrawn’s return continues to affect the galaxy.

However, Lucasfilm has not revealed the entire story, so many details remain under wraps.

Will Ahsoka Season 2 Connect to Other Star Wars Projects?

The series is part of the broader Star Wars story set after the fall of the Empire and during the rise of the New Republic.

That period of the timeline has also been explored through projects such as The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett and Skeleton Crew.

With Thrawn becoming an increasingly important figure in this era, Ahsoka Season 2 could further develop storylines that extend beyond the series itself.

Where Can You Watch Ahsoka Season 2?

Ahsoka Season 2 will be available exclusively on Disney+ starting January 20, 2027.

The first season is already available on Disney+, making it possible for viewers to catch up with Ahsoka’s story before the new season arrives.

Ahsoka Season 2 Could Expand the Star Wars Story

Ahsoka’s next adventure is shaping up to be another important chapter in the modern Star Wars timeline.

With Grand Admiral Thrawn preparing to challenge the New Republic, Anakin Skywalker returning to Ahsoka’s story, and characters such as Sabine and Ezra continuing their journeys, the second season has several major storylines to explore.

Ahsoka Season 2 premieres January 20, 2027, on Disney+. For Star Wars fans following the New Republic era, the new season will continue a story that connects characters and events from across the franchise.
