Is Dead Island 2 underrated, or does it really fail to deliver on its promises?

Dead Island 2 arrived after years of troubled development and a great deal of anticipation. For some players, the final product was a pleasant surprise, featuring fun combat and a well-crafted setting.

But not everyone left satisfied.

Some members of the community believe the game could have gone much further, particularly in terms of its narrative and variety of missions. Although the combat is satisfying, there has been criticism regarding repetitive objectives and a lack of innovation at times.

At the same time, other players argue that the game delivers exactly what it promises: straightforward fun, no-nonsense action, and an interesting world to explore.

This raises an important question: was Dead Island 2 judged against unrealistically high expectations?

Or did it really fall short in ways that could have made it a major milestone in the genre?

The answer can vary greatly depending on the type of player—and perhaps that is exactly what makes the debate so interesting.
