Microsoft has confirmed that Gears of War: E-Day will launch on October 6, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S, PC and Xbox Cloud Gaming. The game will also be available on day one for subscribers of compatible Xbox Game Pass plans.

The new chapter serves as an origin story for the franchise. The campaign takes place 14 years before the original Gears of War and follows Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago during Emergence Day, the devastating moment when the Locust threat first emerges.

By going back to a period before the events of the original game, the developers have an opportunity to explore important moments in Marcus and Dominic’s history while offering a new perspective on the beginning of the conflict.

What to Expect From Gears of War: E-Day

Gears of War: E-Day retains the franchise’s focus on third-person combat, heavy weapons and intense battles against the Locust Horde.

The campaign has been designed around a more focused experience centered on its story and characters. The relationship between Marcus and Dominic will also play an important role throughout the events of the game.

The title will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PC and cloud gaming, while also joining Game Pass at launch. Microsoft has also confirmed Xbox Play Anywhere support for compatible versions.

With its October release date approaching, Gears of War: E-Day is set to become one of Xbox’s major titles for the final months of 2026.
